How many lessons do we need for a wedding dance?

Most couples need a minimum of 4 private lessons to feel confident on the dance floor. This allows enough time to:

  • Learn the basics

  • Create a short, personalised choreography

  • Practise with guidance from your teacher

  • Refine and clean the routine so it looks natural and polished

Many couples choose additional lessons for extra confidence, musicality, and smooth transitions.

Do we need dance experience?

No dance experience is required at all.
We regularly work with couples who have zero previous experience — even those who feel they have “two left feet”.

Your instructor will:

  • Tailor the choreography entirely to your ability, comfort level, and personalities

  • Adjust movements as you learn, ensuring nothing feels forced or unnatural

  • Create a routine that suits you, so you feel relaxed, confident, and genuinely enjoy your first dance

We will never choreograph steps that don’t match your abilities.

Can you choreograph to our chosen song?

Yes — absolutely.
Your wedding dance choreography will be created to your chosen song. During your lessons, you’ll discuss:

  • Musical timing and structure

  • Style of dance that best suits the song

  • Any special moments or highlights you’d like included

If you haven’t chosen a song yet, we’re also happy to help you find the perfect one.

 
Do you offer weekend lessons?

Yes, we offer weekday and weekend availability, including evenings. We strongly recommend booking all your lessons in advance, as wedding dance slots can fill up quickly, especially closer to peak wedding seasons.

What is the duration of each lesson?

Each wedding dance lesson is 60 minutes long, giving you enough time to learn, practise, and refine your choreography without feeling rushed.

Will we have the studio to ourselves?

Yes.
All our wedding dance packages are fully private, meaning:

  • You’ll have the studio exclusively

  • Your instructor’s full attention is focused on you

  • You can practise comfortably and confidently in a relaxed environment

Where do the wedding dance lessons take place?

All lessons take place at The London Academy of Dance studio in Southwark, Central London — conveniently located near Borough, London Bridge, and Waterloo East.  We also offer home-visit lessons if you have suitable space and prefer that option, although availability for home sessions is more limited than studio lessons.
