💪 Fitness Classes – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What types of fitness classes do you offer?

We offer a wide range of fitness classes including Mat Pilates, Strong Pilates, Yoga, Zumba, Barre (Form, Sculpt, Glide), Baby-Wearing Dance Fitness, and Mama & Baby Pilates — suitable for all ages and abilities.

Do I need to be fit or experienced to join a class?

No. All fitness classes are designed for beginners through intermediate and advanced levels. Instructors provide clear guidance, modifications, and progressions so you can work safely at your pace.

Where are the fitness classes held?

Classes take place at The London Academy of Dance studio in Southwark SE1, a short walk from London Bridge, Borough, Southwark, and Waterloo stations.

How do fitness classes work?

Each class typically runs for 45–60 minutes and includes a structured warm-up, guided movement or choreography, and a cool-down stretch. Strong Pilates and Zumba focus on strength and cardio, while Yoga and Barre combine flexibility, balance, and mindful movement.

What should I bring to my fitness class?

Bring:
✔ Comfortable activewear
✔ Water to stay hydrated
✔ Grip socks for Pilates/Barre (optional)
✔ Your own mat if preferred (we also provide mats)

No special equipment or prior experience is required.

Can I try a class before committing?

Yes! We encourage all new participants to try a single class first, then decide on a class pack or membership based on what suits your schedule, goals, and fitness journey.

Are fitness classes suitable for postnatal mums?

Yes — we offer Mama & Baby Pilates and Baby-Wearing Dance Fitness that are specifically tailored for postnatal bodies. Babies are welcome to join you in class either on the mat or in a carrier.

What’s the difference between Mat Pilates and Strong Pilates?

• Mat Pilates focuses on controlled bodyweight movements to strengthen core, posture, and flexibility.
• Strong Pilates adds light equipment such as bands, rings, or weights to increase strength and intensity.

Both styles are excellent for improving functional fitness.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes — all fitness classes are bookable online through the timetable. Booking in advance secures your spot and helps us maintain appropriate class sizes.

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

You can reschedule a class up to 24 hours before the scheduled start time. Late cancellations and missed classes are non-refundable, but class packs and memberships offer flexibility within that window.

How often should I attend classes?

For noticeable results and progress, we recommend attending 2-3 fitness classes per week. Many students find a mix of Pilates, Yoga and Zumba helps them build strength, flexibility and stamina.

Can I join multiple types of fitness classes?

Yes! Our memberships and class passes allow access to all eligible fitness classes on the schedule. This is a great way to mix strength, flexibility and cardio in one fitness plan.
