What is Zumba
Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness class that blends high-energy movement with feel-good music from around the world — salsa, merengue, reggaeton, bachata, Afrobeats, and more. It works like interval training: fast tracks get your heart rate up, slower ones let you recover, and the music does the heavy lifting so the 45 minutes fly by.
You don't follow a complicated routine. You follow the instructor, pick up the rhythm, and let your body do the rest. Most people are surprised by how quickly they get it — and by how much they enjoy it.
Whether you're drawn to structured Latin steps or the liberation of freestyle movement, our Zumba classes in Southwark offer the best of both worlds — a full-body cardio workout wrapped in rhythm, energy, and great music.
Expect a class that will:
-
A full-body cardio workout — 300–600 calories in 45 minutes
-
Better coordination, rhythm, and confidence over time
-
A serious mood lift — the endorphin release is real
-
A welcoming room full of people who are here to have fun
No dance experience required — Zumba is open to all ages and fitness levels. Every class is designed to be fun, accessible, and impossible not to enjoy.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Zumba?
Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness programme that combines energetic choreography with upbeat music. It's designed to feel more like a dance party than a workout — making it one of the most popular fitness classes in the world.
Is Zumba suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Zumba is for everyone, regardless of fitness level or dance experience. Classes are structured so you can jump in, follow along, and go at your own pace. Most people find they pick it up within their first or second session.
Is Zumba still a thing?
Absolutely. Zumba is very much still a thing — and thriving. With millions of participants across 180+ countries, it remains one of the world's most popular group fitness classes. In London especially, demand for fun, social, dance-based workouts has only grown. If anything, people are rediscovering Zumba as the antidote to repetitive gym routines — and our classes in Southwark are a testament to that.
Do I need to know how to dance?
Not at all. Zumba is a fitness class, not a dance class. The focus is on moving, having fun, and getting your heart rate up — not perfecting technique. All moves are taught step by step.
How many calories does Zumba burn?
Most people burn between 300–600 calories in a 45-minute Zumba class, depending on intensity and fitness level. Because it's so enjoyable, you'll often push harder without even realising it.
Is Zumba low impact?
Standard Zumba includes some higher-impact movements, but our instructors always offer lower-impact modifications. It's suitable for most fitness levels, and you are always encouraged to work at a pace that feels right for you.
How often should I do Zumba?
Even once a week makes a real difference. Zumba is proven to boost mood, reduce stress, and support mental wellbeing — and you'll feel it from your very first class. Show up consistently and the physical benefits follow too: improved cardiovascular fitness, better coordination, and a stronger, more toned body. One class a week is a brilliant place to start. Two or three is where the magic really happens.
What should I wear to a Zumba class?
Wear comfortable, breathable activewear and supportive trainers with good lateral movement (cross-trainers work best). Bring a water bottle — you will need it!
How big are the classes?
We keep class sizes intentionally small. This means higher energy, more space to move freely, and a more personal experience than you'd get in a large gym class.
Where are you located?
We're based in Southwark, SE1, a short walk from Borough, London Bridge, Southwark, and Waterloo stations. Full directions are on our contact page.
How far is the studio from Waterloo station?
About 12 minutes on foot from Waterloo mainline station, and 10 minutes from Waterloo East. We're a very walkable distance from the South Bank, the Cut, and the Lower Marsh area — easy to reach before or after a shift or a lunchtime break.
How do I book a Zumba class?
Book directly online via our timetable. If you have a membership or class pack, simply select your class and check out.
What is your cancellation policy?
Classes can be rescheduled up to 24 hours before the start time. No refunds are offered for missed or late-cancelled classes.
